MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 3, 2012) - Leisureworld Senior Care Corporation was proud to recently host its fourth annual Art of Living Exhibit at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. The exhibit began with a hugely successful Opening Night Reception on June 27 and was open to the public June 28 - 30.

The Art of Living Exhibit honours and celebrates the creativity of Leisureworld's senior residents through a beautiful display of their artwork, which this year came in the form of paintings, photography, sculptures, flower arrangements, knitting and wood work creations such as beautifully hand crafted violins, a horse-driven carriage, automobile, and a wonderfully detailed miniature farmhouse.

About 30 residents at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre Rockcliffe dedicated two hours a week for about a year building the miniature Victorian farmhouse by hand from the ground up. George Garrett, one of the seniors participating in the project, went with his children and grandchildren to the Opening Night Reception to see the farmhouse on display.

"I love working with my hands", said George, adding he looked forward to every Thursday which was building day. "We're so excited by the finished product. It's a wonderful achievement".

At this year's exhibit, a total of 71 pieces were entered by 36 senior residents from 22 of Leisureworld's long- term care homes, one from its retirement residence in Kanata Ontario and one from its homecare division, Preferred Health Care Services.

"Since the inception of the Art of Living Exhibit four years ago we have featured over 100 senior residents, showcased 212 wonderful pieces of art, and hosted over 1,000 visitors who have been inspired by our senior residents celebration of art and life", said David Cutler, Chief Executive Officer. "We are very proud of this accomplishment. The Art of Living Exhibit embraces our organization's Caring Philosophy and is our way of honouring our senior residents and their many creative talents".
